Assignment:

Identify a recurring problem at your current or recent place of work, and then put together a change proposal that the manager could follow to solve the problem by referring to the PrOACT framework.

Treat this as a document written to the appropriate manager at your current or recent place of employment with the goal of providing a solution to a problem.

In your document, address the following:

Build a Plan for Change

• Describe the driving forces that might compel the manager to make a change in the organization. Note the clues that there are problems in the organization that need to be addressed. In this same paragraph, describe a well-defined problem at the individual, team, or organizational level.
• In another paragraph, specify a set of objectives: success factors that you would use to find a solution to this problem.
• In another paragraph, list three courses of action that could be used to solve the problem.
• In a final paragraph, recommend the alternative which best addresses your objectives and compare this alternative with the other two, exploring their consequences.

Implement Your Plan Through People

• List three of the restraining forces that might stand in the way of your proposed change at this organization in one paragraph.
• In a single paragraph, talk the manager through transition steps (steps for overcoming restraining forces) you might recommend. Be specific about the people in your workplace and the locations in your organization where these tactics would take place. Connect these steps to restraining forces above.
• In two additional paragraphs, recommend three influence tactics and three bases of power that might help ease the manager through the transition steps.
