Case Study: Teaching Scenario: One goal for most teachers is to prepare students to use their skills and knowledge to address real issues or problems in a particular content area. Students of all grade levels benefit by developing skills to explore complex problems in various subject areas. You are an elementary teacher. Select a developmentally appropriate problem from a subject area of interest that has clear connections to the real world. Consider what students will need to know and be able to do to address the problem-both from a content perspective as well as by exhibiting problem-solving behaviors. Because most current professions rely on technology to address problems, which technology resources might you use to model those real-world applications? How will your students work together to address the problem?
Focus Assignment:
1. Create an infographic (examples of an "infographic" can be found through a simple search on the internet) that provides details on how elementary students can address a real-world problem in a subject area of their choice. Depict relevant technology resources that your students can use that match the content and connect to real-world applications but are developmentally appropriate for your students. Describe strategies students might use to solve the problem.
2. Be sure to read the REFLECTION section below to guide your thinking. Write your reflection.
after you have completed your infographic.
Reflection:
1. Upload a picture of your infographic
a. Justify the examples you have chosen for your infographic so that your young students will demonstrate appropriate problem-solving strategies relevant to your subject area.
b. Give evidence from the chapter supporting your justifications.
2. Describe and justify how your infographic would support teaching and learning in the scenario.
Make sure that your assignment answers completely the above questions and includes the infographic image or picture.
