Indigenous Families

Accessing early learning and care services might present a number of challenges and issues for indigenous families. Cultural, linguistic, and resource limitations are a few examples of these. Cultural barriers may develop as a result of Indigenous families having values and beliefs that differ from those of the dominant culture or language. Additionally, if the language used in the early learning and care setting differs from the language used in the home, Indigenous families may experience communication difficulties. Additionally, Indigenous families might not have access to items like educational materials or toys that are appropriate for their culture. These items are crucial for children's well-being.

Question

Based on the issues identified above, describe specific practical responsive inclusive strategies that an ECE could implement in an early learning and care environment to address the issues/challenges you cited above, to creat a sense of belonging, creat a welcoming environment and sense of inclusion for each of these family identities. Keep in mind that the strategies should come from research or be inspired by research and must be cited. You are also encouraged to keep your scope of practice as ECEs in mind.
