Question - For this task, imagine you are working for a peak body in the disability sector (for example, the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations). You have been asked to write a report which compares and contrasts the individual and systemic challenges to exercising choice and control over their own lives, experienced by (a) people with physical and sensory disabilities and (b) those with cognitive disabilities. The report is to be delivered to the Minister for Families and Social Services, and their State Government counterparts.

Your report should:

1. Identify and make explicit the different individual and systemic challenges experienced by both groups.

2. Describe some of the difficulties for advocates in challenging individual and systemic barriers to exercise of choice and control for people with

(a) physical and sensory disabilities and (b) people with cognitive disabilities.

Your discussion should focus on one type of advocacy, eg paid advocates OR self advocacy groups OR family members please note: Your report should include: executive summary, Key recommendations and A bibliography.
