FOCUS: Steve Bartman "took away" the Cubs' chance of winning the 2003 National League Championship series.
• STORY: On October 14, 2003 during eighth inning of game 6 of the National League Championship series, Chicago Cubs outfielder Moises Alou leaped in an attempt to catch a pop-up ball that drifted toward the stands. And instead of catching it and recording the out, the ball hit a fan sitting in the left-field corner who stretched his arm to catch it himself and the ball fell back into the stands. Alou was clearly angry. Bartman's face was broadcast during the entire rest of the game, showing replays of what occurred. The Cubs lost the game and many fans blamed the loss on fan interference. For days after, the media covered the loss, including images and videos of the incident. This led to days of talks and analysis about the loss, including putting the blame on this one fan.
