Task:
Although the initial developmental lifeline requires four age ranges you will only be required to demonstrate one age range for this assignment (First Two Year). Please illustrate your life only.
You will be asked to represent age range: First Two Years and will discuss, cognitive, psychosocial, and physical development for the identified age range. You may analyze the behaviors using a variety of theories or you may choose to use a minimum of two theories throughout your paper. A sample of a completed assignment (the first two years only) is posted for your convenience.
Use Chapter 2 of your text for highlights of each theory and then look in the chapter that discusses the age and the domain you are discussing for further clarification of the theory. For example, for cognitive development of the two-year-old review Chapter 6 - First Two Years: Cognitive Development. Appropriate theorists/theories for the cognitive domain are Piaget, Vygotsky, and Information Processing Theory.
Although your behavioral example may only illustrate one aspect of the theory, you still need to fully describe the theory.
For each event/behavior, include a minimum one-paragraph description of your example.
Physical domains do not require any theoretical analysis but should be a minimum of one paragraph in length and fully describe your abilities at that particular age.
The application of theory should be a minimum of one paragraph and define how the theory explains the event/behavior used in your example.
Please utilize the following format when writing your paper. Copy and Paste the format below within your paper and type utilizing the format.

The First Two Years - Physical
Describe physical development during these two years - birth weight, birth
Length, age first sat up, crawled, walked, first tooth etc.
Criteria:
A successful written developmental lifeline will include the three identified components listed below:
The format of the product will include one age range: Two Years of age with an identified theorist that will support the behavior of choice. The theorist choose will also support the three developmental areas cognitive, psychosocial, and physical.
Domain: Cognitive Development
Theory:
Piaget, a cognitive theorist, described the infant's first two years as a time of learning through the senses and motor skills. He called this the Sensorimotor Period characterized by the infant's increasing ability to participate in the world around them. This period includes six sub-stages:
Reflex Activity - movements are purely reflexive 2. Primary Circular Reactions - movements involve only the baby's own body. For example, sucking their thumb or making clicking noises with their mouth 3. Secondary Circular Reactions - movements involve the baby's own body as well as something in the environment. For example, kicking the crib mattress hard enough causes the crib mobile to "dance" or hitting the lever on the crib gym makes a particular sound 4. Coordination of Circular Reactions - two or more secondary circular reactions are put together to form a new behavior; now the infant can coordinate reaching and pulling with grasping allowing them to reach out and grab an object which is then put in their mouths 5. Tertiary Circular Reactions - a time of trial and error; instead of just trying to toss the cup off of the high chair tray, now the infant throws it, bangs it, shakes it, tries it with liquid as well as without liquid; experimentation is the key to this stage 6. Mental Combinations - the infant no longer needs to experiment as they can use their expanded knowledge to think it through; no longer need to toss things off of the high chair tray, already know the item will hit the floor
Behavior offered about the student's experience will be aligned to the chosen theorist
Behavior:
When I was 18 months old, my mother found me sitting in the middle of the bedroom floor playing with baby powder. I was putting it in my pant pockets as well as throwing it around the room. I had also gotten my cup from the bathroom and was filling it up with the powder and then dumping the cup out onto the floor. Two of my baby dolls were sitting next to me, their bottom halves completely hidden by piles of baby powder. There are pictures of me sitting in the mess, my face completely hidden by smears of baby powder.
The application theory should support with the behavior and the theory of choice.
Application of the theory:
Until my brother was born, I was the center of my parents' attention. I had learned to trust that they were there to take care of my needs and I was able to develop appropriately. However, when my brother was born, my trust of my mother was shaken - I felt betrayed and let her know this by peeing on the floor. I no longer trusted that she was there to meet my needs and I began to mistrust her. However, once my father began to take care of me, I learned to trust him, and once again I was secure in my knowledge that my needs would be met. Erikson would say that I had successfully negotiated the conflict between my needs and my mother's need to feed my brother.
