1. On the main page, click on "View all cancer types" to view an alphabetical list of more than 70 different types of cancer. You can also link to the page via the pull-down list under "Cancer Information"
Select one type of cancer that is of particular personal interest and review the CCS information provided to answer the following questions:
a. Provide a brief description of the cancer type that you have chosen e.g., where it originates in the body, types of tumors that fall under this type of cancer
b. Discuss key (known) risk factors associated with the development of this type of cancer. Where applicable, provide the degree of risk associated with individual risk factors e.g., what proportion of cancers are associated with it? Are there other possible risk factors?
If so, what are they and why aren't they listed under known risk factors?
c. Review the symptoms associated with this cancer. List 5 key symptoms e.g., those that are presented in more detail and/or listed in the top 5.
d. Discuss important factors associated with prognosis and survival of your chosen cancer type
2. Using the same link the "Ways to Volunteer" found under the pull-down menu for "Get Involved". Describe one way to volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society that may be of interest (or perhaps you are already involved in). Why does this particular strategy capture your interest e.g., personal relevance? good match with personal skill set? aligns with future career plans?
