QUESTION A
Part 1
(a) describe one argument Brock provides in favor of active voluntary euthanasia (for the argument, provide premises and conclusion);
(b) describe one argument Callahan gives to oppose active voluntary euthanasia (for the argument, provide premises and conclusion);
and describe any one of the arguments (pro or con. A con argument against euthanasia based on
incompetence, Pro utilitarian argument for euthanasia)
Part 2
Defend or oppose voluntary active euthanasia. As you defend your position, include but do not limit the justification for your position to an argument
a) is specifically about the theoretical use of euthanasia and its ethical or unethical permissibility. So please do not include any arguments about how current or future use of euthanasia could go wrong (i.e., the abuse of euthanasia). For example, people are sentenced to prison unjustly because of racial bias but we should not conclude from this fact that the notion of sentencing people to prison is unjust. In other words, we don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
b) Secondly, do not use arguments like "Only God can take a life" because this has the unfortunate consequence of saying that the use of force to defend one's life or the use of force to save lives from criminals who go on a mass shooting spree can never be used. Moreover, any soldier who has ever killed someone would be wrong if "only God could take a life." (Whatever your argument is, make sure it includes premises and conclusion.)
