Situation

You are part of a special team at a bank. The team includes engineers, programmers, designers, decorators, architects, and other technicians and technologists.

The team was formed after your manager, John McLean, was sent this video:

The bank wants to honour the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) 10, which is to reduce inequality. Therefore, it created a task force to examine accessibility and equity issues relating to its technology.

You have been tasked with submitting a short report that examines the bank's automated teller machines (ATMs). It will also discuss artificial intelligence (AI) software as the bank is considering incorporating more AI into its systems. Your team should consider the video, think critically, and complete research to complete the report.

The team has a partnership with Humber College and you have access to their resources. At least one source referred to in the report must come from the Humber Library databases.

John McLean has indicated in the section below what he expects in the report.

Report Content

Introduction
a) Indicate the report purpose
b) List the group members
c) Describe the responsibilities of each member and how work was completed
d) Indicate whether the group collaborated using a Blackboard wiki, Googledocs, or other forum (and provide a link/access if required)

ATM Issues
Consider the video and complete these tasks:
a) Indicate the source and briefly explain the situation in the video
b) List the specific challenges the user encounters
c) Indicate why it is important to fix these issues
AI Issues

Research and complete these tasks:
Notes:
- the bank wants to understand AI better overall, so information that is not clearly connected to banking is perfectly acceptable
- APA in-text citations should appear throughout this section
a) Explain what AI is in general
b) Describe issues concerning AI and equality, perhaps especially race (ex. facial recognition, loan application, etc.)
c) Explain effects of AI bias

Conclusions
Brainstorm and/or research to complete these tasks:
a) Explain how the bank could improve the ATMs
b) Explain whether the bank should incorporate AI
- If yes, what should be considered?
- If no, why not?
c) Explain whether the group is optimistic that the bank's technology can meet UNSDG goal 10

Format and Structure

Consider these guidelines for the report:
- include a title
- feature a memo header (to, from, date, subject)
- use a heading for each of the 5 sections
- single space the report
- use full block format (align paragraphs on the left margin)
- Complete the tasks using full sentences (or introduce bullets and use parallelism)
- Follow APA guidelines
