Your Canadian company is preparing for a negotiation with a company from Italy which wants to buy ice wine from you. Your task is to write a proposal of a design for negotiation, describing your strategy based on the factors of negotiation and the four phases.
-Discuss and describe the impact of the following factors in intercultural negotiations:
-Expectations for outcomes (How might they differ between the two companies? Why?)
-Team members (What is the composition of the team and who has the final word?)
-Assuming that the negotiation will be held at the premises of your business counterpart, how would the physical factors affect you?
-What communication and negotiation style would you expect to encounter (for example: direct versus indirect, importance of form, use of emotions, silence, and so on)?
-What would you expect the behaviour of your business counterpart to be with regard to each of the four phases of negotiation? How can you adjust your strategy to achieve successful negotiations with your potential business partners? (How much time do you think you should spend on the first phase; what type of information you should prepare; what persuasion tactics would you use; would you insist on a detailed written contract for your agreement, and so on?)
