Imagine that you are a participant in a research study. For each of the following scenarios, describe how you would probably react, and explain how your reactivity would influence your responses.

a. A researcher tells you that the task you are about to perform is directly related to intelligence. Intelligent people usually find the task quite easy and perform very well.

b. A researcher tells you that the purpose of the study is to measure your attitudes and prejudices concerning race. First assume that the researcher intends to ask you questions in an interview. Then assume that the researcher hands you an anonymous questionnaire to fill out privately.
