Assignment - Theatrical Worlds Discussion
Description - Read Chapters 1-3 in Theatrical Worlds, considering in detail how actors and directors use specific gestures, symbols, dialogue, costumes, set design, and other visual and verbal elements to convey meaning (you can skip ahead to Chapters 4-6 if you need ideas). In this Discussion Board post, describe how you would portray your life (or a specific event/period of your life) in a theatrical production. Some things to consider:
1. What span of time will you consider as the subject matter for your play? Would you portray your whole life story, certain parts of it, or a scene from one significant moment in your life?
2. What costumes or props would you use and why?
3. Is there a focal point or primary dramatic moment in your story? How would you convey the importance of this moment using theatrical elements?
4. What actor would you hire to play your role? How does that actor represent you or your story effectively?
5. Would you present this as a live theatrical production or as a feature film? Why?
