Question -
1. Explain one (1) thing you learned from the coding guidelines for Pacemaker or Implantable Defibrillator services preceding the codes (33202-33275) in the Cardiovascular System subsection of the CPT manual. I learned that the battery for the pacemaker is coded differently when replaced. it is it's own service.
2. In your own words, summarize what you think that coding guideline (from question 1) is instructing the coder to do when assigning codes for those types of services. You assign the battery change as its own service.
3. Describe how you will apply that coding guideline (from question 1) when assigning codes for those types of services. I would use the CPT code book to look up the correct service for the battery change and code for that.

To add to the academic conversation, reply to your classmates/instructor by introducing a new idea that applies personal experience(s) and/or new knowledge gained from either course room material(s) or research (UMA Library). Make sure your reply is substantive. For example, how were your thoughts and ideas similar or different? Do you agree or disagree with their point of view, and why or why not? Remember to build on your classmates' posts and expand the conversation as if you were all sitting in the same room having a face-to-face discussion.
