Structure of the summary:.
Your summary should be comprised of three sections: Overview and Summary, Comprehension self-assessment, and Real-world application. I will describe each below:
Overview and Summary - This likely will be the longest section and should cover a detailed summary of what the article said. This is not a copy and paste situation. You need to read the article and then tell me in your own words 1) what they did, 2) what they found, and 3) why does it matter. Think of this part as a narrative like you are telling a friend about a research study you just read. What do you need to tell them so they understand what the research is focused on, what researchers did in the study, what they found, and what it means?
Comprehension self-assessment - This section is for you to reflect on and identify when and where things in their research study got messy or fuzzy for you to understand. This might be specific wording they used all the time that you cant figure out what they are meaning, or maybe when they describe their statistical analysis you kept getting lost, bored, or falling asleep. Or this might be a section of the paper that you see what they are saying but you think it doesn't make logical sense or that they are wrong.
Real-world application - Psychology is the study of the mind or of human behavior. As such, human behavior is always present and impactful in the world. Drawing from the why does it matter in the overview and summary section, describe how you see the results of this research being applicable to real-life situations people find themselves in.
