SCENARIO

The age of Amanda is 21, and her ancestry is Polish. She is not currently employed. She plans to attend college and is interested in graphic design. Lives with her family at home. She does not get along well with the rest of the family because they are so strict with her. Additionally, they dislike her boyfriend, a drug dealer. She recently received a stage 4 bipolar diagnosis. She is extremely stressed out about the outcome and doesn't take any medication. She is using MDMA, which is of course provided by her boyfriend, to try to cope with her situation.

Reflective Journal:

You are required to make a reflective journal at the end of their counselling simulation. The reflective journal needs to reflect the counselling session that was undertaken.

The reflective journal must be written from the perspective of you in the role of the counsellor.

1. Describe how you built a therapeutic alliance with your client; did you have any ruptures during the session, and how did you address these ruptures?

2. How you integrated these theory ( Nature Vs Nurture, Genetic inheritance, and Attachment issues ) into your work with the client.

3. Identify how your values, beliefs or attitudes either facilitated or impeded your work with this client.

4. Briefly discuss your responses to working with this client and how you would seek supervision and/or debriefing.

5. Briefly discuss which skills you believe you could benefit from developing further through supervision and/or deliberate practice?
