Part 1:
Describe how vulnerability is created through social (as opposed to personal) forces.
Identify these social forces for risk factors such as race/ethnicity, SES, and health insurance coverage.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of focusing national efforts on both social determinants and individual determinants of vulnerability?
Make sure to discuss how a focus on these social determinants of vulnerability creates a societal obligation to address the consequences of vulnerability on health.
Part 2:
Vulnerability can be composed of many different risk factors.
Identify three risk factors besides race/ethnicity, SES, and health insurance coverage risk for poor health care access. Examine some of the peer-reviewed research literature on these risk factors, and present a short synopsis of why and how these factors are related to access to care.
Be sure to describe how strongly these factors are related to health care access in comparison to race/ethnicity, SES, and health insurance.
