1 Describe the norms (expectations) which you have for yourself as a college student. These norms represent your perception of your college student role(s).
2 Please identify both the aspirations which you have as a college student (for example, your goal is to earn a 4.0 GPA) and the behaviors which would allow (or help) you to achieve each goal (for example, you expect to spend 20 hours a week studying). You should describe at least two sets of aspirations and behaviors.
3 Describe how your perception of your college student role has changed since you first entered as a Freshman or if you are just now a Freshman, describe what your perception of the college student role was before you entered college.
4 The members of some of the groups to which you belong (such as your classmates, roommates, instructors, family, etc.) may hold different expectations toward you as a college student than do members of other of your groups. Please identify at least two different groups with members which you perceive as having expectations of you as a college student and describe the differences between the expectations which you perceive from these different sources (group members).
5 With the number and complexity of roles which may be associated with the status of college student, it is likely that you (the student) might experience role conflict and/or role strain at some pint in your college career. Describe two examples of role conflict and/or role strain which you have experienced (or which you might anticipate experiencing) as a college student. Please clearly label each example as either role conflict or role strain.
6 When faced with a variety of possible student roles one might ask how one decides which role or roles are most appropriate for herself or himself. Clearly one's culture in general and the specific social background of the individual will play an important part in influencing the choice of student roles. Please describe how your cultural and /or social background (for example, your family background, religious background,etc) has influenced the student roles which you have assumed.
