1) Please describe the range of how disruptive SUD can be to any individual and clearly state any associated conditions that you assumed either were or were not present and all your reasoning in your response.
2) It's your first meeting with a 40 year old defensive male who has had two driving under the influence (DUI) charges, drinks 20-25 drinks/week and denies that stress affects him. He has challenged you to provide him with something of value to help him manage his stress-related health conditions (i.e., digestive issues, blood pressure problems, etc.). Using what we have reviewed in this course (MHFA, MI, TTM), please describe your approach or what you would say in your attempts to engage this man in some care.
3) It's your first meeting with a 25 year old woman who has just been told her drinking is quite a bit above the cutoff (20 drinks /week) and she is at high risk for an Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). She has no medical care and no insurance. She is overwhelmed by the thought of having AUD and is feeling ashamed, like a "failure," and contemplating suicide. Using all the skills and ideas (MHFA, MI, TTM) we have reviewed in this course, please describe in detail your approach to working with her and engaging her in some care.
4) Describe how different stigmas affect people with SUD and give two research- based ideas for how to effectively reduce intersectional stigma in people living with SUD.
5) Describe why and how stress management strategies are so important and useful for anyone with SUD, especially if there are any additional medical or mental health concerns.
6) Describe how a Nurse Practitioner using the tools learned in questions answered above your future work, say 2-3 years from now after you have graduated and are working.
