Like so many working parents, Shanna takes her children to day care and arrives at the call center 30 minutes before she is required to clock in. Shanna learned during her new employee orientation that the company expectation is that at the 8:00 a.m. start time employees are to be taking calls on their systems. This means logging into the systems and setting up her desk with materials she needs to answer customer service questions; this is in addition to reading any information or instructions her manager or team lead placed on her desk.
