When mammals eat food that contains protein, the protein is broken down to amino acids and the amino acids travel from the lumen of the small intestine to a blood vessel. Proteins are polymers of amino acids. Explain how an amino acid molecule in food you ate gets from a protein in your small intestine lumen to an amino acid molecule in your blood? A ‘lumen' is the open space inside a tube.
