DQ is a 65-year-old, pleasant, alert, and oriented female. She states that she exercises daily, consumes a healthy diet and enjoys the outdoors. Her past medical history is significant for hypercholesterolemia, right knee baker's cyst, and occasional flare-ups of diverticulitis. When sharing her family medical history, she specified that her mother had dementia, DMII, macular degeneration, and a history of smoking until she was in her mid-sixties. She passed away at 90 years of age from end-stage dementia. Her father had retinitis pigmentosa and emphysema and smoked for years up until his death at 82 years of age from respiratory failure. Her biological sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in her seventies and completed chemotherapy and radiation. She is now in remission. Her Biological brother recently passed from lung cancer that metastasized to the brain after years of smoking. DQ also reports that she lost a biological brother in his thirties due to myocardial infarction without a diagnosis of cardiac illness.
