Case study - Case: Medisys Corp: The IntensCare Product Development Tea

1. The conceptual material describes four product development team structures - functional, lightweight, heavyweight, and autonomous. A key feature of the Medisys Intenscare team was its cross-functional nature, and it seems they intended to create something like a heavyweight team. But, their team doesn't fit any of the four structures perfectly. So:

• Describe four key attributes of the team (for example, leader, charter, roles that members take on - you choose) and explain whether they are consistent with the heavyweight team structure or are more consistent with another team structure.
• For each key attribute you describe, explain how it affects team performance for good or bad (or sometimes with mixed results)?
• Answers these questions for four team attributes that you think are the most important, explain the trade-offs, and include a short conclusion at the end of the answer that sums up your analysis of the four attributes.

2. We have previously covered the "success syndrome" and inertia. Explain how these seem to be affecting team members' behaviors in the case and whether those behavioral effects help or hurt the team's performance.
