In this hypothetical situation, you work for a small to midsize company (over 50 employees) that currently outsources payroll functions only. The organization's HRM staff performs all other functions. Your CEO has heard about e-HRIS (e-HRM), and is interested in knowing the difference between e-HRIS (e-HRM), although he suspects there is none. He also requested a first wave exploration into four software program platforms using only information you can gain through publicly available brochures, press releases, reviews, manuals, if available, and product tours that do not require a commitment or company information. You are not to contact the HRM service provider, schedule a consult, or register to be on a mailing list.

Prepare a report for your CEO outlining the four platforms using Thite and Kavanagh's three HRM activity categories (transactional, traditional, and transformational). Strictly adhere to the outlined parameters of sourcing your information. (See Poisat & Mey, 2017) Do not contact the HRM service provider, schedule a consult, or register to be on a mailing list. If the required information is not available through publicly available information (brochures, press releases, reviews, manuals, or product tours that do not require a commitment or company information), and then indicate non-availability in your first wave report. 

Select four service providers to explore for the report from the following list of companies:

For the Report, be sure to complete the following:

  • Provide an introduction that defines your organization's industry, number of employees, strategic goal overview for the next 7 years, computer skills of HR staff, and computer skills of employees. This information may be hypothetical.
  • Describe e-HRIS (e-HRM), and terminology usage. 
  • Present each of the four platforms separately, discussing services by Thite and Kavanagh's three HR activity categories, and other information you might consider meaningful. Use a matrix format to present your results.
  • Provide a summary recommendation on factors to consider in deciding whether your organization should further explore adopting an e-HRIS (e-HRM). Use considerations provided through this week's readings as a synthesized foundation for your recommendation.
