Problem

Describe the determinants of health that may influence health outcomes for the person in the case study.

Mrs Doris Parkes is a 68-year-old lady who underwent a total knee replacement four days ago for osteo-arthritis. Doris has type 2 diabetes, struggles with weight gain and currently has a BMI of 32. Doris recently had a sleep study performed at the recommendation of her GP and was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea. She now uses continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy in the form of a CPAP machine. Doris states that she has difficulty managing her health as she doesn't understand the complexities of her health problems.
