Case Sudy: Jewish worshipers have been intermittently classified as a unique race and at other times a unique ethnic group (by themselves and others). Their histories in the pre- and post Egyptian slavery eras, European conflicts, and World War II provide insight into when they were considered a race. The Nazis also effectively categorized the Jews as a race (albeit threatening and unwanted). The Jewish story (see Internet reference in Internet Activities below) provides a real-world example of the subjective nature of the social construction of race and ethnicity.
