Assignment:

Identify and describe cardio-vascular disease ((such as coronary heart disease and rheumatic heart disease) experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Identify at least TWO demographic, cultural AND/OR socio-economic factors that contribute to this cardio-vascular disease in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and describe how they relate to the condition. (PLEASE NOTE- these factors are not what we would typically consider biomedical or behavioural risk factors, i.e. it is not poor nutrition, smoking, physical inactivity. Instead we are looking for you to identify a non-medical factor, i.e. a social or cultural factor or the physical conditions in the environment in which people are born, live, work and age).

Describe ONE contemporary healthcare strategy in relation to the chronic health condition you have chosen, and discuss its efficacy.

Provide a brief overview of the key barriers and enablers of health care delivery (broadly) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities. Considering your chosen health care strategy, describe at least one barrier and one enabler that has been/should be considered when implementing this strategy.
