Second, respond critically and personally to the reading(s). This main portion can take multiple forms and should draw more broadly from all of the day's assigned material. For example, you can describe a connection you see between this reading and a previous reading, this reading and an experience you've had, this reading and an event in the news, a book, movie, tv show, etc. Another option is to discuss your reaction to the material (i.e., "I think this text is profound because..." "I totally disagree with...because..."), or to reflect on how concepts from the reading apply to other areas of health care.

Third, at the end, bulletpoint "three questions for discussion" that can be used to promote conversation in class / small groups. Good discussion questions require serious thinking. In your questions, try to identify a central claim(s) of the reading and ask your peers about it; try to cite a passage that you find interesting or troubling and raise a question about it; try to make comparisons or connections to previous readings from the course, class discussions, recent events, or your own experiences; try, that is, to formulate questions that will stimulate discussion with your classmates.
