Prewriting Activities
You have read about the writing process in an academic setting. You have also thought about the process itself and the stages of brainstorming, outlining and writing, editing and revising your draft. Use prewriting activities to choose your topic, brainstorm and create an outline for your paragraph. Feel free to do some research on the topic to understand it better, but you are not expected to formally incorporate any research.
Follow these steps and use the outline template to organize your ideas:
1. Choose a topic that you are interested in writing about.
2. Choose one method of brainstorming and brainstorm ideas about your topic. The ways of brainstorming were discussed; free writing, listing, mind-mapping, asking questions and having an oral discussion.
3. Come up with a topic sentence and three points to support your topic sentence.
4. Complete the outline template with explanations and examples that will support your points.
Submit:
1. A paper that describes your brainstorming technique.
2. An outline created by using the outline template. The outline should be in point form with your topic, three points, explanations and examples.
