Question: You have just been appointed as the new administrator for St. Georges'' Skilled Nursing Facility. On your appointment, you were told by the board that the facility needs an electronic health record (EHR) system in place to be competitive.

The board now wants to hear your plans for the facility. Specifically, they want to know what steps you would implement for the EHR selection, adoption, and use in the facility.

Address the following: Describe the benefits and challenges of adopting the EHR system and the steps that you would take to adopt and use the system. Identify the benefits of using the system to care for residents. Share the criteria you use in selecting the right EHR product and the regulatory compliance measures needed to implement it. Discuss ownership of medical records and the rights of the residents.

Illustrate protocols in place for residents who have mental issues and their rights to their medical records. Describe security and privacy concerns and HIPAA compliance. Discuss the benefits of effective communication when relaying resident information. Use the following template: Unit 2 Assignment.
