TOPIC Homelessness- Like - the prisoners in south Australia especially the (Torress straight Islander people/ Indigeneous people) after releasing from jail have no place to go anywhere - they neither have any of their medical records with them / they have no information to share with your local GP- (General Physician) it increase homelessness issue may further lead to crime - we can talk on this policy and can write to local MP to amend or we can suggest the changes in the exsisting policy

due to domestic violence many females have to leave their house first and then have to seek Transition housing which is going full during Covid-19 - time-- when there is increase in domestic violence is recorded-
These domestic violence victims must be given or arranged new place to live when they need it

Describe Australian social policies which relate to particular social problems
Articulate appropriate social work responses to individual and social issues and understand the connection between social and individual issues
Task:
Students will write a letter to their local member of parliament (State or Federal) on a social policy issue. (Write to a local MP within Australia- May write to any MP in South Australia) recommended
The letter must address a social policy issue identified on the MP's website or in their area of responsibility.
The letter must include an overview of the social issue as it is currently represented in policy and propose an alternative response underpinned by social work theory and principles.
This assessment must be supported by at least 8 to 10 academic references. You will need to use topic materials and undertake wider research. APA referencing conventions must be used.
Demonstrates the advanced knowledge of key stakeholders and effected communities. Demonstrates critical thinking.
Analysis (50%) = Sophisticated understanding of social theory to critically analyse the interacting effects of multiple knowledges in problem representations. Demonstrates independent thinking.
Using the literature & referencing (20%) Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of a range of social theories. Uses the literature to develop independent arguments.
Use the literature to develop more analytical arguments.Wider reading & research is demonstrated. APA referencing is accurate & consistent. Uses at least 6 academic references including topic materials to support arguments.
Communication (10%) The paper is exceptionally well argued & constructed, well structured & organised. Excellent written communication throughout.. Arguments are communicated in a clear, succinct, logical & organised manner. Grammar & spelling must be correct. Language is appropriate & inclusive.

Writing letter to the local member of parliament, state or federal is fine about the social policy issues, must address a social policy issue, identified on the MP's website ( on their area of responsibility) choose topic according to the MP areas of responsibility
They might be representative , the MP or they might have portfolio of some sort.
You can write to them about the local issue in your area or something in their portfolio
But it has to be something they are interested or have Articulate response to on their website or on their party website .
