Here we present the case of a 52-year-old woman who was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with severe community acquired pneumonia.
Following treatment with amoxicillin and her discharge from hospital, Mrs Brown presents at accident and emergency a week later with persisting symptoms of breathlessness. She is diagnosed with atypical severe community acquired pneumonia and is prescribed clarithromycin.
Her condition improves but about a week latershe sees her GP complaining of a sore throat and a loss of taste. Upon inspecting her mouth, the GP notices a white patch on her tongue and diagnoses an oral thrush infection. To treat this, Mrs Brown is prescribed posaconazole.
This essay asks you to describe aspects of Mrs Brown's infections, about the CLASSES of antimicrobials she was prescribed.
