Assignment: Experience Where the Communication Failed
Learning Outcomes:
1. Articulate what communication is and how it functions in organizations.
2. Identify which message is appropriate for a specific audience, and successfully complete the message.
3. Identify the importance of giving details while writing a message taking into consideration the three decisions points when writing (Tone, word selection and length)
4. Illustrate techniques and skills of correct business research report writing, learn report writing style using an approved style; and, apply the basics of oral communication in a presentation of a project, including, proper speech, organization, use of graphical aids, and effective non-verbal communications.
5. Analyze effective business letters, memorandums, and case studies.
Part A: Critical Thinking
Question I. Describe any situation in your own experience where the communication failed because the listening was faulty. Identify the barrier to listening in this situation.
Question II. Evaluate your communication skills, sort out your strengths and weaknesses. Describe one of your weaknesses, how it prevents you from being a good communicator? How do you plan to work on that weakness before you look for a job?
Question III. Imagine you work in a business, and you are going through a hard time. Consider writing a letter to the HR manager informing them about your situation.

Examine each of the following charts (Figures 1, and 2) and respond to the questions below:
