Academic IELTS Writing test
Describe and critically evaluate the test, considering the four areas of testing and assessment below:
1. Formative assessment, including diagnostic testing, is a range of formal and informal assessment procedures conducted by teachers during the learning process in order to modify teaching and learning activities to improve student attainment.
2. Summative assessment (or summative evaluation) refers to the assessment of participants where the focus is on the outcome of a program. This contrasts with formative assessment, which summarizes the participants'' development at a particular time.
3. Criterion-referenced tests and assessments are designed to measure student performance against a fixed set of predetermined criteria or learning standards-i.e., concise, written descriptions of what students are expected to know and be able to do at a specific stage of their education.
4. Norm-referenced tests report whether test takers performed better or worse than a hypothetical average student, which is determined by comparing scores against the performance results of a statistically selected group of test takers, typically of the same age or grade level, who have already taken the exam.
Your description and evaluation should be a maximum of 1500 words. Include referencing and citations.
