Assignment:

External Cause Codes using ICD 10-CM 2023

Give six different examples for the two listed question:

1.) Describe an injury that covers each external cause code (cause, intent, place, and activity).

2.) Provide both the diagnosis and external cause codes of the scenario.

I am aware that the code for the injury should always be the first-listed, followed by the external cause code(s) but examples of this guideline used would greatly help.

Also I am pretty positive that all injury codes must be 7 characters long and other have specific rules and guidelines as well but again the examples will help me understand further.

Format to follow for all six examples:

  • Injury code
  • Activity
  • Intent
  • Place of occurrence
  • Status
