Supermarkets such as Giant Eagle, Shop-n-Save, and many other organizations have loyalty card programs. These loyalty cards must be swiped or scanned in order to make a purchase, and in return, a customer earns points, or discounts, or some other benefit.
Be sure to use an organizational leader perspective, and try to avoid focusing soley on the consumer perspective.
1. Describe all the data that can be collected from the application process through each time a loyalty card is swiped or scanned.
2. Detail, over the course of a year, what data is collected and how that data can be used by managers when planning, organizing, leading, and controlling at the operational, tactical, and strategic levels to assist them in making decisions? Give a specific example of each function at each management level.
3. How do these loyalty cards create value for the organization? Please provide at two specific examples.
