Example: Kroger launched a "zero hunger, zero waste" campaign. Consumers are made aware of the large proportion (35%) of food produced in the US which is thrown away. They are likely to react by making adjustments to their food purchases, trying to waste less food. This initiative is likely to benefit Kroger financially as they decrease costs through efforts to lower waste in their operations and possibly increase revenues from selling soon-to-expire or "imperfect" products at lower price to consumers who cannot afford full priced items.
