Renaissance humanism was a philosophy that developed in the 1400s and 1500s in Italy, and then spread throughout Europe. It was a distinct shift away from the kind of thinking that characterized the Middle Ages. Identify three characteristics of Renaissance humanism. Then, for each, describe a specific example of this philosophy that can be seen in Renaissance art.

(Tip: Earlier in the course, if you were asked to identify archaic features in Greek art, you could choose a sculpture and give an example of a way that it shows archaic style. The New York Kouros statue, for example, shows a rigid stance with geometric, block-like forms, which is characteristic of the archaic style.)
