Task Requirements

You are required to write c. 800 words (and no more than 1000 words) in which you:

(a) Describe a noteworthy aspect of your experience applying the Making Strategy process

(b) Explain your experience by drawing on concepts and ideas from the Making Strategy literature

(c) Evaluate your experience in terms of learning for future activity

Your work will be assessed according to the following criteria:

- Concise description of an aspect of your Making Strategy experience

- Theoretically connected explanation of your described experience

- Clear and sensible evaluation of learning gained from your experience, which you would pass on as advice to other managers undertaking making strategy

- Use of appropriate references, including original reading

- Appropriate formatting/ presentation and effective writing/communication style

Suggestions for tackling the reflection

You are advised to split your document into 3 separate sections, with word count approximately evenly distributed between each section.

In describing a noteworthy aspect of your experience, brevity is key -don't use all your word count on descriptive content. You may wish to think about the Context-Action-Result model here (Context-what background do you need to provide the reader? Action -what did you do or experience? Result -what happened as a consequence of your action/the actions of others?)

In explaining the event which is the focus of your assignment, the most important question to ask yourself is "why did that happen?" In making such a response, you are encouraged to consider one or some (but definitely not all) of the following concepts/ideas in making your explanation:

Procedural Justice; Procedural Rationality; Political Feasibility; Issues/Priorities; Purpose/Goals; Uniqueness/Competitive Advantage; Communication processes; Facilitation; Transitional objects; Leadership; Social interaction; Negotiation processes.
