All learning is developmental; in other words, we all start learning something new as a beginner. When learned how to tie shoe, were probably around five years old and could follow step-by-step directions. However, would not have had success if someone had tried to teach to tie shoes or ride a bicycle when were three years old! Developmentally, both cognitively and physically, were not ready for that.

The same is true in the teaching of anything - including teaching in STEM areas. Think about a classroom in which you have taught or one that have visited.

How old were the children in the class? Describe the levels of development of the children in the class, according to at least three learning theorists.
How do think that the developmental levels of the children would impact the teacher's instruction in STEM areas? What would the teacher need to consider in terms of what should be taught and how it should be taught?
