Assignment:
For your chosen client describe a challenge to seeking healthcare, and a possible health complication the client may face. Then develop a nursing diagnosis (NOT a Risk for) in PES statement supported with evidence for choosing the diagnosis
I've selected a client who identifies as LGBTQ+. The LGBTQIA group experiences negative outcomes as a result of exploitation, lack of access to mental health services, and prejudicial views (Institute, 2023, p. 10). Anxiety, depression, and a variety of other health issues are brought on by the widespread discrimination and unwavering judgment directed at LGBTQ+ patients. Patients who avoid or fear visiting the doctor face the danger of developing mental health issues, malnutrition, and STDs. It is crucial for nurses to educate, uplift, and be nonjudgmental toward their patients. Patients may choose not to seek medical attention due to prejudices or worry of having their private information revealed (Institute, 2023, p. 9).
PES statement should be formatted as:
P (appropriate nursing problem/diagnosis) related to E (etiology specific for the diagnosis) as evidenced by S (signs and symptoms that support the diagnosis).
Anxiety related to discrimination and disapproval as evidenced by feeling irritable, fear, trouble sleeping, and difficulty of concentration.
