Goal Statement

Improve performance in all the CMS disease-specific indicators

Ensure all patients admitted to the ED with the diagnosis of AMI receive aspirin within ____ minutes of admission.

Improve performance on the following AMI indicators:
• Timeliness of administration of aspirin
• Prescribing aspirin at discharge
• Smoking cessation counseling
Research the available clinical guidelines on the care of the patients with AMI, and implement a guideline that:
• demonstrates a strong degree of evidence;
• ensures meeting all regulatory and payer requirements; and
• permits ease of documenting, retrieving, and reporting the necessary performance indicators.
Reduce the number of patients with AMI who are discharged without smoking cessation counseling and a prescription for aspirin.

Part Two: Discussion
Using insights from this week's reading (CH. 7 & Ch. 8), as well as at least one additional peer-reviewed source, discuss the insights you gained while completing your goal statement evaluations in Part One (above). How do well-designed goal statements align with Chapter 7's discussion of the purpose principle and the need to understand organizational context? In your current or a past professional position(s), do you think enough resources are invested in developing goals that are properly aligned to organizational purpose? Explain your answer and offer insights about what is or has worked, or how goal identification and implementation could be improved. Your discussion should be a minimum of 1000 words and use APA 7th Ed. citations, including a references section below your discussion.

Chapters 7 and 8 explored mental models impacting the identification of organizational context and the development of effective goal-setting skills. Your assignment this week is an opportunity to evaluate a set of goal statements from a given scenario and appraise how a current or past work position has implemented the tools and insights you learned about this week. Begin by reviewing Exercise 8.1 (p. 139) in your textbook. Download the Goal Statements Worksheet (below) and complete parts 1 & 2.

In your assignment, use the textbook and integrate at least three peer-reviewed sources along with their citations and references. Your assignment, citations, and reference page must be APA formatted and include at least 1000 words.
