Case Study - Susan is an 18-year-old college freshman being seen in the student counseling center. She has been on edge since she left home 7months ago to start school at a large urban university more than 4 hours away from her home in a small, rural town. She worries about everything she does at school and also worries about her mother and younger brother back home because she says her dad drinks too much and gets angry easily.

Lately, Susan has been having difficulty concentrating on studying, and her grades are falling. She has trouble getting to sleep at night, and when she finally does sleep, it's rarely for more than 2 or 3 hours. she says her roommate is complaining that she is irritable all the time, but she thinks that is because she's always tired from lack of sleep.
