Learning outcome: Students will construct a research question and outline a proposed research methodology to address this question. This assessment requires students to demonstrate evolving skills in research study development.

Purpose Statement:

To construct a research question with an associated developing understanding of research methods. This is then clearly communicated to peers and academic staff.

Task Description:

Each student is required to prepare and present a 5-minute oral presentation about their topic, research question and proposed methodology. In the presentation, students are required to:

1. Briefly describe the background to the research topic
- Identify the gap in the evidence/ knowledge.

2. State the research question.
- use either PICOT or SPIDER framework
- specify the outcome of interest.

3. Outline the methodological approach you propose to address the study question. Including:
- Study design
- Sample
- Data source and collection method
- Data analysis
