Supplemental Paper
Scenario: You have been taking to an organisation (a supermarket) about a potential role in their analytics team. The hiring manager is uncertain. In order to demonstrate your potential impact, you would like to undertake a -zero-cost" consulting assignment. The paper is your formal proposal to your selected organisation that outlines a scope of work that you propose to do.
This is your opportunity to demonstrate that you have mastered the ILOs (and may be useful to all students as you seek to get work)
• Assessed pass or fail by Subject Coordinator AND Program Coordinator - no feedback or rubric - If you pass, you clear BUS5AP
• Criteria for pass is straightforward... if I received this paper, would I agree to the proposal?
- Zero cost is not necessarily "free, as client has to provide oversight, space, data, etc etc.
- Remember table stakes: spelling, grammar, presentation etc. Do NOT give the reader an excuse as to why they should't read the proposal document
- A range of questions will be used to evaluate. Do I see a clear statement of scope? Is the deliverable of interest? Will the achievement of the deliverable deliver business value to my organisation? Do I have confidence that the individual will be able to deliver what is promised in the proposal? Are the assumptions valid? Is this something that I can't achieve by other means (or have others in my organisation do)? Etc
- Do not regurgitate the standard textbooks on retailer analytics... make sure what you propose is "fit for purpose".
