Demographic Changes affecting the Hospitality Industry Defined: demographics are statistics that include such things as age, race, sex, income, and educational levels. In 2010, the baby boomers were between 45-64. This age group represented 5% MORE than it traditionally did. The median age of the workforce rose from 39.3 to 40.6 from 2000 to 2010. The percent of total doesn’t add up to 100% because I pulled out the Hispanic origin population due to its growth, the government (BLS) classifies Hispanics as White. Question: How will this impact you as a supervisor? Hint: Think non traditional workers.
