D. Few main causes of poverty are history, inequality and political instability

II. Body

A. History
1. Colonialism
a. Some colonies creating slaves and preventing them from ascending
2. Corruption
a. It helps introduce more slaves in other places, increasing slavery
b. it involved theft, bribery, and exercise of brute force as well as ruses Although history seems to play a huge role in poverty, social inequality is also very common.

B. Inequality
1. Discrimination
a. Workplace discrimination causes lower profits and reduces wages and underemployment
b. Inequality prevents groups with lower social status from accessing the told and resources to support themselves
c. Prevention from accessing basic social services and information have been on the rise causing an increase on poverty
2. Under-investments in education
3. Lower levels of consumer spending
a. Consumer spending makes up about 70 percent of the U.S. economy

Inequality affects poverty but political instability has affected it as well in many more ways.

1. Poor education
a. With no education there are less chances of employment
2. No legal protection
a. With no laws that protects peoples rights, fewer business owners and entrepreneurs will invest in the countries economy

A. In conclusion, history, inequality and political stability affect poverty in different ways, helping poverty to increase.

B. With this being said, poverty has affected the world in a big way and it is still present and we can say that it will be in the future aswell.
