Question

You are taking care of a 4-month-old female who was admitted for dehydration and possible pneumonia. Her mother reported that the doctor's told her that something was wrong with the baby's heart. Unfortunately, mom cannot remember exactly what was said. She is a single mother of 3 and has just recently moved to the area. As a result, the baby has not been back to a doctor since the initial follow-up after her birth. The child was a term baby who is now 4 months old. Her mother had to leave to pick-up the older children from school.
