This assessment is an individual canvas presentation which involves a digitally enhanced pitch of a proposed business plan for a case study. Students are required to identify and justify a proposal meeting an organisation's goals. The proposal should be based on having successfully identified an organisation's business objectives and then developing a proposal to enhance the achievement of those objectives. This requires understanding the organisation's competitiveadvantage. In undertaking this assessment, you will need to use the business canvas model to demonstrate an overall business understanding.
900-word Business case. This document should show your roadmap in developing the proposal. What obstacles do you expect, and how do you intend to overcome them? It also needs to identify an organisation's business objective and its competitiveadvantage in the sector. You will need to demonstrating understanding of the use of business canvas model for an overall business understanding in order to develop the proposal.
300 words Reflective diary entries. During the period of developing your proposal, you are encouraged to think about how your experience relates to your learning and personal review. What worked and what didn't work? What could you have changed?
20- minute pitch. This should include:
Synopsis - Begin with an ‘Elevator pitch' of you and your product/service, including how it works - form, function, feature, benefit. This whole section describes, how things happened in the past - it is a synopsis
Opportunity - Describe your idea through a 4-6 step process. Or tell a story about how it works.
Method - Tell the audience how this will displace existing products/services.
Summary and conclusion - restate the idea, what needs to be done, how much you need, and ask the panel for their support - financial or networking.
In the final presentation, say what you personally contributed to it (this could be the visual content, verbal scripts, structural decisions or ideas, marketing ploys used, or presentation techniques)
The assignment will be marked according to the following criteria:
• the degree of critical evaluation and analysis in the arguments made (descriptive submissions are likely to receive low marks).
• scope of reading and research demonstrated in the answer by appropriate referencing.
• the degree to which your arguments are underpinned by theory and research evidence.
Other considerations include:
• clarity and structure of the arguments (formal report format with appropriate introduction and conclusions should be used).
• use of appropriate examples.
• overall presentation, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
