What are the core skills and knowledge you hope to acquire by completing a degree in this major and how do you plan to apply these when you graduate?
The core skills that I hope to attain by completing a degree in industrial engineering at University of Florida are optimization problem solving skill and programming skill. I think these skills are most basic skills in the field of industrial engineering. Also, I believe problem solving and programming skill will be very useful and needed when I start my career. I am very interested in production system, and in the future I want to work in the field of production management. For this reason, I hope to gain as much as knowledge about production, like supply chain, economic system, and quality control by attending the industrial engineering courses at UF. I want to acquire the knowledge not only from the classes or books but also from outside the classroom. Therefore, I will try to do internships during the degree program so that I can enlarge experience and learn about the actual work in the real manufactory. To have in-depth knowledge and professional skills, I will continue to study and pursue a masters degree in industrial engineering after I finish the bachelors degree program at University of Florida. At the end, I want to become a professional production manager as I have dreamed.

It seemed impossible to me that I could break down the language barrier and become equal to the native speakers while I moved to China from Korea, and again came to America from China. However, I changed all my mind after I attained honors program at Santa Fe College. It was hard for me to keep up the course because of studying in depth subject and much more homework than a normal class. Due to the hard work, I have to cooperate and help each other with classmates, and that allowed me to learn cooperation and develop my communication skill. More importantly I found myself confidence and saw my potential and visions as I found myself challenging something that native speakers also felt difficult. Also, I realized the experience of living in different countries and learning different languages are my biggest advantages which make me communicate with much more people around the world. I believe that strengthening these advantages and making myself challenge more can make me achieve my goals, and I also strongly believe that University of Florida is the place where give me the chance and I make my goals come true.
