Degradation of electrochemical performance in Solid Oxide Fuel cells

Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) often have a large performance drop with time. This performance drop is a function of a wide variety of parameters; interconnect scale growth, changes in particle size distributions of embedded particles, etc. Understanding of performance degradation is still in the relatively early stages however simple models have been proposed [1] and [2].

This coursework requires the following

1) Develop a model to predict the degradation of electrochemical performance in SOFCs.

2) Write either a MATLAB or COMSOL (saved as a .m file) or degradation of electrochemical performance in SOFCs.

3) Calibrate your model for a set of conductivity data in the literature [1] might be helpful although feel free to find others.

4) Do something novel that demonstrates originality.

5) Provide recommendations to a practitioner or designer for the application you have selected.

6) Write a report on your findings and include your code.
